I could always easily make connections, but I wasn’t connected to myself. I wasn’t really being my authentic self in these relationships, and I was not getting my needs met.
I was so often left resentful, bitter and deeply abandoned.
I lived in people pleasing mode — shaped by watching my own mother survive that way.
I was low-maintenance. Giving. Easy.
But not embodied.
Not vulnerable.
Not safe in my own emotions.
I feared anger.
I feared sadness.
I even feared excitement.
I so craved deep intimacy — but couldn’t stay present long enough to experience it.
I didn’t need better communication.
I needed a regulated nervous system, practices and tools to access and feel my emotions, and a process to move safely and smoothly out of triggers and into regulation.
When I found somatics, everything changed.
